We are seeking a talented and motivated scientist to join our dynamic biologics discovery team. In this role, you will drive the generation, purification, and characterization of novel monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and therapeutic protein formats. This is a hands-on position ideal for a researcher who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and enjoys bridging protein expression with downstream protein biochemistry to advance our therapeutic pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Protein Expression: Execute transient and stable transfections in mammalian host systems (CHO and HEK293) to optimize recombinant antibody yields.
- Protein Purification: Develop and run multi-step purification workflows using ÄKTA chromatography systems, utilizing Protein A affinity, ion-exchange (IEX), and size-exclusion chromatography (SEC).
- Biochemical & Biophysical Characterization: Evaluate antibody quality and purity using analytical methods such as SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC/UPLC, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry.
- Process Optimization: Proactively troubleshoot technical challenges and contribute to developing robust, scalable production protocols.
- Data Analysis & Documentation: Maintain meticulous experimental records in an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN). Analyze, interpret, and present data-driven insights clearly to cross-functional project teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field with 2+ years of industry experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree in the same fields with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
Technical Core Competencies
- Mammalian Cell Culture: Proficient in sterile, aseptic techniques for maintaining and transfecting cell lines.
- Downstream Processing: Demonstrated expertise in protein purification using automated chromatography systems (AKTA).
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Operational Excellence: Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to balance multiple priorities.
- Collaboration & Communication: A team-first attitude with the ability to work independently, paired with strong written and verbal communication skills.
What we offer
- Equity in a promising start-up
- Comprehensive health coverage
- 401k & paid time off
- Opportunities for professional growth and development
- Compensation based on experience

Scientist (Cell Biology)
Location: South San Francisco
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Scientist, Cell Biology to join our Discovery Research team. In this role, you will be a hands-on experimental powerhouse and a key scientific contributor, developing and executing cell-based assays to validate novel glycan targets and characterize candidate therapeutic antibodies. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of glycobiologists, mass spectrometry experts, and antibody engineers to advance programs from early discovery toward IND-enabling studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assay Design & Execution: Design, optimize, and perform robust cell-based functional assays (e.g., cytotoxicity, internalization, proliferation, and receptor binding) to evaluate antibody and ADC candidates.
- Cell Engineering & Culture: Utilize CRISPR or lentiviral systems to generate engineered knockout, knockdown, or overexpressing cell lines to model specific glycan targets. Maintain a diverse bank of cancer cell lines and use single-cell sorting to generate lead clones.
- Flow Cytometry & Imaging: Perform multi-parameter flow cytometry (surface staining, intracellular staining, profiling) to quantify therapeutic efficacy and cellular mechanisms.
- Data Analysis & Rigor: Analyze complex datasets, interpret biological mechanisms, maintain pristine laboratory records, and build decision-focused data packages.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with our proteomics and antibody discovery teams, presenting clear, concise scientific conclusions to project teams and external collaborators.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: PhD in Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Immunology, or a related discipline with 1–3 years of relevant post-PhD or industry experience, OR an MS with 7+ years of industry experience demonstrating increasing scientific independence.
Technical Core Competencies
- Extensive experience with aseptic cell culture techniques, maintaining mammalian cancer cell lines, and primary cells.
- Extensive experience directly working with antibodies and antibody-based drug candidates.
- Proven expertise in multi-color flow cytometry (panel design, acquisition, and data analysis using FlowJo).
- Hands-on experience with quantitative cell biology techniques (e.g., ELISA, Western Blot, MSD).
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving skills focused on hypothesis generation and experimental validation.
- Operational Excellence: Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to balance multiple priorities.
- Strategic & Entrepreneurial Thinking: An entrepreneurial thinker who actively contributes to overall research goals and drug development strategy.
- Collaboration & Communication: A team-first attitude with the ability to work independently, paired with strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to mentor junior Scientists and Research Associates.
